PLA is looking forward to replacing its obsolete battleships by commissioning new combat vessels in 2015. In the years 2013 and 2014, PLA has commissioned three Type-052C guided-missile destroyers and soon expected to put fourth 052C ship in service. These battleships are equipped with Zhonghuashendun technology which is known to be the Chinese version of Aegis.
PLA has a total of six Type-052C destroyers and four of these ships are in service for East Sea Fleet. East Sea Fleet will also commission fourth Type-054A frigate expected this year. Another PLA destroyer fleet in the south China Sea recently got two brand new Type-052D guided missile destroyers as replacement for the two Type-052B that have been transferred from South Sea Fleet.
