On Tuesday, a Taiwanese official said The Philippines and Taiwan will be expected signing an agreement on law enforcement partnership on fishing issues in their contested seas also said the agreement is on its final review status.

The pact can not be signed by two countries and will still be pending until the Philippine government approves the agreement. According to Taiwan's Department of East Asian and Pacific Affairs' director General, Elliot Charng, the agreement is expected to be signed in the coming months.

Since 2014, the two governments have been negotiating regarding the maritime law enforcement cooperation, a step taken to enhance the relations of two countries after the May 2013 incident where Philippine Coast Guard officers fired at a Taiwanese fishing boat resulting to death of one of the boat's crew members igniting outrage and worsen the relations of two countries.

After the shooting incident, several meetings on fishery issues between Taiwan and the Philippines have followed to enhance the relations between the two countries.
