According to Kanwa Defense Review, a photo of J-10B which is the upgraded version of J-10 posted on the internet shows that the aircraft is almost ready for commissioning.

Can be seen in the photo an unidentified airfield in China where the J-10B parked on. The magazine also said that the first J-10B is likely to be in service this year after the J-10A went out of production in 2014.

Report said that the aircraft was actually designed to be attached with locally built WS-10 Taihang turbofan engine but since the Taihang engine is not yet ready, AL31FN Russian engine will be fitted to the aircraft. China can not rely on Taihang engine production and that is one of the reasons why China can not produce numerous J-10B aircraft.

The first J-10B will be commissioned for the PLA Air Force that also using the commissioned J-10A. China plans to use the J-10B to boost its Navy in East Sea Fleet ground attack.
