On January 12, China's Global times reported that 8 pilots of PLA Navy Air Force have completed the second landing test on the China's first aircraft carrier Liaoning in November last year.
The report suggests that PLA Navy is getting closer to completion of its first carrier battle group very crucial for safeguarding its status as regional power.
On November 23, 2012, the first landing test on Liaoning took place when a J-15 touched down on the carrier using the tailhook to stop before taking off from ramp of the Liaoning. From June to July of 2013, J-15 pilots practiced on flying and landing from land bases of PLA Navy for the preparation for the second test.
The completed tests show that PLA Navy is improving and forwarding to become one of the world's naval superpowers.
