According to Japan-based Asahi Shimbun, Tokyo plans for a simplification on rules of engagement in case of an attack on its territories by China.
The new procedure allows any cabinet member to order military deployments in the event of any attack with just a telephone call. The procedure gives them the power to summon Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force's destroyers and deploy them where the attack happens.
As an addition to the reformed rules of engagement, JMSDF is allowed to deploy its destroyers and battleships if foreign military ships have entered Japan's territories.
This new procedure is seen by many as a precaution of Tokyo to prevent any Chinese or Taiwanese occupation of the Senkaku, islands administered by the Japanese government but claimed by both China and Taiwan.
