According to Nihon Keizai Shimbun, Japan is receiving assistance from the US for its new Basic Plan on Space Policy. Japan aims to confront China on its space program within the next 10 years.

On December 3 last year in Tanegashima Space Center, Japan launched a H-llA space rocket with satellite in it 115 kilometers south of Kyushu. Japan is not only increasing its defense budget but also investing more to build and enhance rockets and satellites that in 10 years can confront China's increasing Space assets and technology. One of the objectives of the New Plan is to restore the country's aerospace industry now that China is at a stance of using its satellites and weapons in space.

The country is not departing from its defense policy because the said new space plan is to use the space for defending its national security from potential foreign threats. China's technology to launch a satellite for capturing other space satellites concerns Japan and  the US leaving them a thought that space can be a future battlefield.

A step to take, Japan must put more Quasi-Zenith Satellite System in the space. The country is already operating one Quasi-Zenith but aiming to have seven by 2023. Also, Japan plans to put a space defense network consisting of 3 satellites. PM Shinzo Abe is looking forward to negotiating with the US government for a help.
