CHINA WOULD GIVE ARMS TO HAWAIIAN SEPARATISTS

On Feb. 10, Free Beacon columnist Bill Gertz said that US arms sales to Taiwan would result to China supporting Hawaiian independence movement.

A Pentagon official Michael Pillsbury said that he had talks with 35 Chinese generals in the past years and he said that some of them told him that China is ready to provide arms to Hawaiian separatists.

China sees Hawaiian separation from the United States as a national interest if the separation would lead to withdrawal of American air and naval bases from the islands.

Leon Siu, a Hawaiian-born independence activist has been working with international organization as well as international legal institutions on gaining recognition of Hawaii as a sovereign country.

In an article written by Ridzwan Rahmat for Jane's Defence Weekly, British Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs Philip Hammond  while giving a lecture at Rajaratnam School of International Studies said Britain's armed forces are ready to get involved in Asia-Pacific if the country's interests are challenged in the region.

Hammond is upset at slow steps being taken in historic reconciliation in spite of economic interconnectedness. As a former Defense Secretary, Hammond said that economical connectedness is not an assurance that regional peace is maintained giving the World War I as an example.

The secretary added that the UK is remained committed to its pacts with four other countries that are members of Five Powers Defence Arrangements such as Australia, Singapore, Malaysia and New Zealand. Hammond also mentioned Royal Navy's participation in conducting relief efforts in the Philippines after the Typhoon Haiyan. "That means we are ready and able to mobilise in support of Asia-Pacific allies, friends, and partners," Hammond added.

CHINA DEVELOPED X-RAY TECHNOLOGY POSSIBLE FOR CHALLENGING AMERICA'S EMP

According to China's Global Times, Xian Institute of Optics and Precision Mechanics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences has reached a breakthrough in X-ray technology.

The report said that Xian Institute is successful in developing X-ray pulsar simulation source, a technology that can create pulsar source in an X-ray tube for generating arbitrary waveform pulses. Beijing believes that this technological breakthrough will help them to develop pulse weapons that would challenge the United states' electromagnetic pulse weapons (EMP.)

In 1991 Operation Desert Storm, the United States used EMP weapons to disrupt telecommunication systems of Iraq. A year later, US Congress named the EMP as one of the six key future weapons technologies setting up plans for the US Navy, Army and Air Force for the high-powered microwave weapons development.

US also used the microwave weapon systems in March 1999 Nato bombing of Yugoslavia bringing down telecommunication systems for several hours. In 2003 Iraq War, the United States also used EMP weapons for cutting out TV broadcasts in Iraq.
