According to a report by Want China Times, France's Dassault Mirage 2000-9 fighter has become FC-1 Xiaolong's rival on Egypt's plan to procure MRFs.

A former Pakistani air commodore disclosed that UAE has offered Egypt to provide Mirage 2000-9s. The ex-commodore did not confirm the number of Mirage being offered to Egypt. He is skeptical that Egypt would get FC-1 Xiaolong if the country has purchased both Mirage 2000-9s and refurbished 2000-5s.

According to an article by Defense News, compared to French fighter, Xiaolong is less capable. But a military expert from Pakistan said that JF-17 Thunder or FC-1 Xiaolong is only a victim of geopolitical conditions.

A commodore and director for sales and marketing for Xiaolong, Khalid Mahmood is still confident regarding the sales and exports of the MRF. Mahmood also said that Xiaolong JF-17 Thunder program has not ceased, it is moving forward particularly on China since new weapons and radars have come up.
